David von Schlegell
David von Schlegell was an Ogunquit resident and a member of the early art colony. After studying engineering at the University of Michigan, and working as an engineer at Douglas Aircraft in Long Beach, California, he served as a pilot in the US Army Air Corps from 1943-1945. He was Director of Graduate Studies in Sculpture at Yale University from 1971-1990. His sculpture is in the collections of the Addison Gallery of American Art, Carnegie Institute, the Whitney Museum of American Art, M.I.T., and the Ogunquit Museum of American Art.
