1. New England's First Aero Meet Marker
At the Harvard-Boston Aero Meet, held at Squantum in 1910, just seven years after the historic Wright Brothers flight at Kitty Hawk, a Bleriot monoplane piloted by Claude Grahame-White won the race to the Boston Light. World-class aviators such as Wilbur Wright, Glenn Curtiss and Clifford Harmon attended the aero meet. Tens of thousands of spectators gathered to watch the eleven-day event, including President William Howard Taft, Boston Mayor John F. Fitzgerald, and future President Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
