1. Zito Residence Marker
Inscription.
Philip "Phil" Zito (1913-1998), drummer and bandleader, lived here at 1519 Camp Street from 1986 until 1991. He played in the Navy Band, at the Parisian Room with his own New Orleans International City Dixielanders, at the Club Morocco, at receptions for Presidents Eisenhower and Johnson, and at many jazz concerts, dances, French Quarter clubs and Canal Street hotels. He led his own big band at the Treasure Chest Casino. He was also a long-time board member of Musician's Union Local No. 174-496.
