1. Historic Box Hedge Marker
Three centuries old on Oak Hill, also called Archer's or Hector's or Dunn's Hill. Tradition says gaps show emplacements of Lafayette's guns in 1781 when British occupied Petersburg.

More about this marker. There may be a year engraved on the marker, but it was obscured by ivy when visited. It is right next to the sidewalk in a residential neighborhood. While it is at the base of a pair of boxwoods, the scene is not as described on the marker - whatever hedges used to line this ridge have apparently been overtaken by home construction.
