Glenda J. Kovarik faithfully served the Village of Glen Carbon as an elected official, holding the office of Village Clerk from 1968 to 1993. During her 25 years of service, the Village experienced the transition from a small former coal mining community into a progressive suburban municipality. Glenda was very dedicated to the Village of Glen Carbon and its citizens. She was loved and respected by its residents who often referred to her as "Glenda Carbon." , The Village Board of Trustees also recognizes "The Covered Bridge" as a dream of Glenda's. Upon its completion in 1976, Glenda truly cherished the new bridge, which had been built by volunteers from Glen Carbon. Therefore, the Village of Board of Trustees are proud to dedicate "The Covered Bridge" in memory of Glenda J. Kovarik to honor Glenda for her significant contributions to the Village of Glen Carbon.
