1. Town of Phelps Marker
Inscription. This monument erected by the people of the town of Phelps in memory of all its early pioneer settlers and of John Decker Robinson (first settler) May 14, 1789.

Grateful for the civil and religious liberties bequeathed to us by our forefathers and preserved for us by our defenders. We hereby pledge ourselves with unswerving loyalty to maintain the same, and transmit them as a legacy to our children.

The wilderness of a hundred years ago, by stout blows and sturdy industry, is transformed into blooming valleys, and fertile fields, the homes of busy and happy people.
