In 1908, a resident priest was appointed and the new parish of "Notre-Dame-du-Mont-Carmel" was erected. Over the years, the structure was modified many times. But eventually, plans for an entirely new church, made of brick this time, were drawn up. In 1928, the old church was moved again.

This time, horses pulled it 70 meters behind the site of the new building. After all of this, on October 5th of that same year, while the new church was under construction, fire completely destroyed the old church. Only a statue of the Virgin Mary was saved. On December 16, 1929, the present church was inaugurated. The Casavant Freres organ was installed in 1944.

Excerpt:  In 1908, the residents of the old Lacolle village were granted permission to have a resident priest. A new parish was canonically established and dedicated to Our Lady of Mount Carmel, on May 11th, 1908, by Bishop Paul Bruchési, of Montréal.
The new church was inaugurated on December 16th, 1929. The exterior church walls are covered with brick. The ground plan is rectangular with a salient chancel, a flat apse and a one-vessel nave and a rear gallery. The interior walls and the flat vault are covered with plaster. The Casavant Opus 1760 organ was restored in the 1990s by organ builders Guilbault-Thérien. Without being very powerful, the sound of this organ is helped by the church's very good acoustics.
