Joe
Joe Niekro, Bridgeport High School, class of 1962, won 221 games in his 21 year major league career. Joe was the 1st Houston Astro pitcher to win 20 games in consecutive seasons in 1979 & 1980. A National League All-Star in 1979, Joe was named "the sporting news pitcher of the year that year." Joe's first and only major league home run was hit off brother Phil. Joe is the father of current major league player, Lance Niekro of the San Francisco Giants.

Phil
Phil Niekro, Bridgeport High School, class of 1957 is the most successful knuckleball pitcher of all time with 318 career wins. This combined with his brother Joe's 221 career wins makes them the winningest brother combination in baseball history. His 121 career victories after the age of 40 is a major league record, Phil was named to the National League All-Star Team five times. He also won the Gold Glove Award five times. Phil was inducted into the national baseball hall of fame in 1997.
