Lake Orion in Oakland County, Michigan — The American Midwest (Great Lakes)
A Moment in Time c.1915
Downtown Lake Orion
A view of the southeast corner of Flint and Broadway streets as seen around 1915. The white clapboard building on the south end was built around 1850 by Isiah Bradford, Orion's first undertaker. It later became a furniture store as well. Next to it is the Berridge Building (27 S. Broadway) which was built in 1881 and initially housed a drug store. In the 1920s it housed the first bowling alley in Lake Orion. The building with the white awning sold men's furnishings (clothing and haberdashery). The first theater in the village, Lincoln's theater, is shown with a Vaudeville sign. The store on the corner is the Lake Orion Pharmacy, later shown as Van Wagoner's drug store.
