1. Rutherford County, Tennessee, Sheriff's Office 9-11 Memorial Marker
Inscription. This monument memorializes those who died or were injured on September 11, 2001. The Rutherford County Sheriff's Office and volunteer supporters created it as a memorial to the 2,977 people killed and more than 6,000 injured in the September 11th attacks.

Our local community responded to this project with donations of materials, volunteer construction and the sale of inscribed brick pavers. The Memorial was dedicated on September 11, 2011, marking the 10th Anniversary of the attacks.

The 3,000 pound I-beam is from the North Tower of the World Trade Center. It points directly at New York City. The three posts supporting the tilted beam represent the 343 New York City firefighters, the 71 law enforcement officers, and 8 emergency medical services personnel killed saving others.

The four planter urns represent the airplanes that crashed that day and the passengers onboard American Airlines Flight #11 into the North Tower; United Airlines Flight #175 into the South Tower; American Airlines Flight #77 into the Pentagon; and United Airlines Flight #93 brought down in Shanksville, PA after passengers diverted
