Inscription. Franklin Academy founded January 10, 1820 by an Act of the General Assembly of Maryland. On January 25, 1849 became a public school. Was Reisterstown High School from 1874 to 1896. Became Franklin High School in 1897.

4. Oldest High School in Baltimore County Marker

This is the only structure of the Franklin Academy still standing. It was build in 1930 and at that time housed Franklin High School. Presently this building is the Franklin Middle School.
