Schoolhouse on the Guilford Green
A two-story schoolhouse with a cupola for the bell stood in this area until the town decreed that all public buildings must be removed from the Green. In 1825, the schoolhouse was moved and outfitted as the private Guilford Academy. If you look beyond the north end of the Green, you will see the former Academy in its second location at 19 Church Street.
