Inscription. Walter Claude Ball (1880-1940) was the son of George W. Ball, who had come to Webb City at the age of 16 with nothing and gained wealth from mining. Walter would follow in his father's footsteps, gaining wealth in mining and other businesses. He served on the school board, the board of trustees for the Jane Chinn Hospital, the board for the Presbyterian Church, was a member of the Webb City Rotary Club, and was a charter member of the Elks Lodge 861. He built this home with his wife, Ethel Deane, not too far from his father's house. This home is noted as the first and only house in Webb City to have an elevator. The home would later belong to Jerry Fisher and his wife Betty. Jerry has provided Webb City with many ye[a]rs of service, including as city councilman.
