Flowery Mount Missionary Baptist Church
Flowery Mount Church, located at the corner of Summit Street and Maddox Avenue, served as the first place that Black children in the community attended school. Rumor has it that the church, which sits atop a mound, supposedly had a tunnel underneath which served as an escape route for Blacks who were in trouble. The other end of the tunnel was supposedly in the Summit, MS area.
