1. Rutherford United Church Bell Marker
Inscription. This bell chimed for 73 years at the Rutherford United Church, 4640 Lambton Line from 1937 to 2010. Members of the Prescott family and their descendants worshipped at the Rutherford United Church. The bell was purchased and installed in accordance with the terms of the will of Elizabeth Prescott (1862-1933), as a donation to the church in memory of James Prescott and family, all early settlers of Rutherford.

Cast in London England by Mears & Stainbank in 1937, this 535 pound bell hung in the church's interior bell tower until its weight began to threaten the wooden timber supports. The bell was then relocated to an exterior wooden tower north of the church, where it hung until 1980, when the family of Isaac Harold Skinner, Prescott descendants, commissioned a brick and cement tower to be erected on the church's east lawn. The bell hung in the brick tower for 30 years, until the Rutherford United Church closed May 30, 2010.
