This is the first McDonnell-Douglas F/A-18A Hornet, first flown in November 1978.

The F/A-18 has been and continues to be a major asset in Naval Aviation. Starting with the 1986 strikes against Libya and currently with the fight against Global Terrorism, serving in IRAQ, Afghanistan and throughout the world.
