1. St Michael's Square Marker
Inscription. In medieval times, St. Michael's Square was a busy fish market selling freshly caught eels, mackerel, whiting and oysters. The Cloth Hall was built about 1400. Wool was sold on the top floor and fish mongers traded beneath. In 1634, the hall was taken down and rebuilt next to the Westgate. Its foundations can still be seen in the paving.

Possibly built in the 1070's, St. Michael's is the only intact medieval parish church in Southampton. During the French raid in 1338, blood was spilt and the church was re-consecrated.

Tudor House has been a public museum since 1912 after William Spranger sold it to the town. Built around 1492 by Sir John Dawtrey, on the site three earlier buildings, the house and garden were extensively restored in 2010.
