Ramses Shaffy (29 augustus 1933 - 1 december 2009) was een Nederlandse chansonnier, liedschrijver en acteur. Na een carrière als acteur bij de Nederlandse Comedie maakte Shaffy midden jaren zestig furore als zanger. Liedjes als Sammy, We zullen doorgaan, Pastorale, Laat me en Zing, vecht, huil, bid, lach, werk en bewonder zijn tot op de dag van vandaag krachtige meezingers. Zijn laatste jaren woonde Ramses in het Dr. Sarphatihuis. Enkele weken na zijn dood maakte de onbekend gebleven kunstenaar 'xs' deze muurschildering, die in 2023 door diezelfde 'xs' opnieuw werd aangebracht. Op Ramses' negentigste geboortedag werd het herstelde eerbetoon door burgemeester Femke Halsema onthuld.

Songs like Sammy, We zullen doorgaan (“We will continue”), Pastorale, Laat me (“Let Me”) and Zing, vecht, huil, bid, lach, werk en bewonder (“Sing, fight, cry, pray, laugh, work and admire”) are still powerful sing-alongs to this day. Ramses lived in the Dr. Sarphati House during his last years. A few weeks after his death, the unknown artist 'xs' made this mural, which was repainted by the same 'xs' in 2023. On Ramses' ninetieth birthday, the restored tribute was unveiled by mayor Femke Halsema.
