1. "Edgar Latimer Hinton III" Marker

Inscription. Edgar Latimer Hinton III was destined for the ministry until the actor Randolph Scott saw young Ed working at his parents resort on Wrightsville Beach in North Carolina. Randolph encouraged Ed to move to Hollywood and Ed did. Doing mostly theatre until in 1940 at the first intimation of war he left and joined the Navy helping them with their recruiting programs & shows. Ed was then assigned as an Ensign to the Battleship Tennessee which he was on during the attack on Pearl Harbor and later saw action aboard attack transports at the invasion of Iwo Jima, Okinawa & Mainland Japan. Discharged in 1946 as a LT. Commander, he headed back to Hollywood where his career really started taking off. Ed appeared in 48 motion pictures including: 'The Lion and The Horse' (1952), 'The Dalton Girls' (1957) and 'Fort Bowie' (1958) all filmed in Kanab and 76 TV shows many filmed here as well. Unfortunately, Ed was killed in a private plane crash leaving a family vacation when Fox Studios called him back to Kanab for a leading role. But not before seeing the birth of his third child Darby Hinton, 6 months earlier, who would carry on the acting

Edgar Latimer Hinton (March 26, 1919 – October 12, 1958) was an American film and television actor. He was known for playing Special Agent Henderson in the American drama television series I Led 3 Lives.
