Inscription. Silent films were still all the rage, but in 1927 Paramount Studios brought Gary Cooper and his leading lady Thelma Todd to Kane County for one of the earliest talkies, titled "Nevada". Bryce Canyon, Cedar Breaks and some of Kane County were utilized. Gary Cooper was already a star when "Nevada" was in production and two decades later with two Academy Awards for "Sergeant York" and "High Noon". Cooper was back on location in nearby St. George, Utah for the epic western "They Came to Cordura", co-starring Rita Hayworth, Van Heflin and Tab Hunter. Cooper always praised Utah's beauty. He often came on private hunting trips with Clark Gable and Robert Taylor.
