Hyland House

George Hyland (also spelled Highland) lived on this site as early as 1660. He was succeeded by his grandson Ebenezer Parmelee, an ingenious mechanic and carpenter to whom the main saltbox portion of the house is attributed. The Hyland/Parmelee House is a museum of early American life maintained by the Dorothy Whitfield Historic Society and is open to the public.
