Der Brunnen wurde 1930 als Ehrenmal für die Gefallenen des Ersten Weltkrieges errichtet.

Die Inschriften und Reliefs sind Ausdruck des damaligen Zeitgeistes.

Die Gedenkstätte der Stadt Speyer für die Opfer von Krieg und Gewalt befindet sich seit 1985 im nördlichen Domgarten.

English Translation:
The fountain was erected in 1930 as a memorial for the fallen of the First World War.

The inscriptions and reliefs reflect the spirit of the time.

Since 1985, the city of Speyer’s memorial for the victims of war and violence has been located in the northern cathedral garden.
