Regarding War Memorial Cenotaph. Description from the Government of Canada:
In 1921, a committee was formed, on the initiative of the Stirling Horticultural Society "... to be responsible for the erection of a war memorial". The Stirling Cenotaph was constructed in 1927 in memory of the fallen of the First World War and dedicated at a service on June 22, 1927.
The address was given by Brigadier General A.E. Ross CMG, who performed the unveiling ceremony. The band of the Hastings & Prince Edward Regiment was in attendance. It was erected by public subscription.
After the Second World War it was refurbished and rededicated in 1948.
