Specialist Fourth Class Riley, husband of Marlene Taylor Riley and son of Mr. and Mrs. Jason Riley, was killed in Quang Tri Province while serving with Company P, Seventy-Fifth Infantry (Rangers), Fifth Infantry Division (Mechanized). Born in Tazewell, Virginia, Riley joined the army at age seventeen and served nearly five years before his death. He was a member of the Calvary Gospel Tablernacle of Barberton. In addition to his wife and parents, he was survived by sons Michael and Vernon, Jr.; brothers, Jason, Jessie, and Timmie Lee; and sisters, Kathy and Patricia Sue. He is buried at Brookfield Cemetery in Massillon.
