Sergeant Mingle, a door gunner with an Air Cavalry Troop of the Eleventh Armored Cavalry Regiment, was killed in action near Long Giao, in Military Region III. Born in Nashville, Tennessee, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin M. Mingle of Massillon. A 1966 Washington High School graduate, he was a member of the First Baptist Church. Prior to entering the Army, Mingle was employed by the J.H. Tire Store in Massillon. In addition to his parents, he was survived by sisters, Linda and Janice. Robert Louis Mingle is buried at Rose Hill Memorial Park in Massillon.
