SPC. Richard Allen Hardy, age 24, a three year Army Veteran, enlisted in the Army February of 2002 after the September 11 attacks. Richard was killed in Ramadi, Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom by an IED near his M2A2 Bradley Fighting Vehicle during his third tour of combat. He was serving the 2nd Battalion, 69th Armor Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division from Fort Benning, Georgia. The son of Richard D. Hardy and Doris G. Espenschied was born in Canton, OH. He graduated from Timken High School in 2000. He is survived by his parents, his sisters; Kristy Anderson and Jessica Tackett. He is buried at St. Steven's Cemetery in Bolivar, OH.
