More about this marker. The plaque is the center of three embedded today near a 2012 vetearns memorial in front of Hinckley's community building.
Regarding William H. Rissman. According to a 1919 book called "Honor Roll of DeKalb County, Illinois" about the county's World War I dead, Hinckley native Howard Rissman entered service in July 1918 at Great Lakes Naval Training Station. While on furlough at home in Hinckley, according to the book, he contracted influenza and died at home on October 3, 1918, at age 25.
