Regarding Irving Wade. Almost all records, including his headstone at Aisne-Marne American Cemetery in France, say his name is Irvin Wade. He and his brother Lester are two of the three Hinckley servicemen who died during World War I.
Irvin Wade enlisted in the Navy in 1915 and was a Marine in World War I. A corporal in the 5th Marine Regiment, 2nd Division of the American Expeditionary Forces, Wade died during the Marines Corps' fight against German troops at Chateau-Theirry on June 13, 1918. Lester Wade, who was two years older than Irvin, died in battle about five months later on Armistice Day, November 11, 1918.
