Formed at Linton-on-Ouse, Yorkshire, England, on 25 October 1942 and moved to permanent quarters at Allerton Park, on 6 December 1942; declared operational at 0001 Hours on 1 January 1943; transferred to RCAF's Eastern Air Command on 14 July 1945 for service in the Pacific as part of RAF "Tiger Force"; disbanded on 1 September 1945.
