1. The Station Marker
The station was built circa 1884 by the Canadian Pacific Railway. The William C. Van Horne inspired design was a simple two-storey building with the Agent's quarters on the second floor and a waiting room, ticket office (the protruding windows) and freight room on the first floor. Serving both the Kingston and Pembroke and the Canadian Pacific Railways, the station was a vital commercial hub for the village handling mail, freight, passengers, and baggage. As rail traffic declined over the years, the lines were eventually abandoned. In 1970 the station was sold and dismantled for its lumber.
