Bremen-Mitte in Mitte, Germany — Central Europe
Fruchthof
In 1954-55 constructed by the Bremen architects Wilhelm Wortmann and Erik Schott. Building owner was the fruit selling group named after the Bremen merchant Gustav Scipio that developed from a fruit trading company founded in 1902. The four-storeyed building is characterised by a grid façade featuring two protruding stair towers and a facing made of sandstone and ceramic. The canopies above the entrances, the light hallways with winding stairs and the figure reliefs on the gable-front are typical design elements of the reconstruction time of the nineteenfifties.
