1. C. Grooms Smithy Marker
Inscription. Built in 2012, this functional workshop is named for Mr. Charlie Grooms. Working as the leader of an all-volunteer committee from 2006 to 2012. Mr. Grooms helped inspire several of the outdoor exhibit areas at Discovery Park of America. The Smithy displays tools and equipment used by turn-of-the-twentieth-century tradesmen such as blacksmiths, carpenters, and leatherworkers. The working blacksmith forge housed inside was built by the Tennessee River Artist Blacksmith Association.
