Inscription.

In 1977-80 in spite of protests from citizens, the main part of the Städtischer Vieh- und Schlachthof (municipal corral and slaughterhouse) built in 1879-82 was demolished. At this site only the water tower, the blacksmith's shop and the boiler hall remained. Due to intense dedication of several culture and action groups these buildings were conversed into a cultural centre according to plans of the Bremen architects Volkhard Meyer-Burg and Karl Tütelmann in 1980-81.

In 1998 attachment of the glassy foyer by the Bremen architects Thorsten Markwart und Torsten Amende.
