Het ontwerp van de Tweede Gemeentelijke Openluchtschool wordt toegeschreven aan Pieter Marnette, een architect in dienst van de gemeente. Marnette ontwierp ook de School voor Schipperskinderen aan de Droogbak, vlakbij Amsterdam Centraal Station. De leslokalen grensden aan een buitenterras, dat onder meer gebruikt werd voor openluchtlessen. Het gebouw is tegenwoordig een gemeentelijk monument.

The design of the Tweede Gemeentelijke Openluchtschool (Second Municipal Open Air School) was credited to Pieter Marnette, an architect in the employment of the City. Marnette also designed the School for Skipper children on the Droogbak (road), near Amsterdam Central Station. The classrooms gave onto an outside terrace that could be used for lessons in the open air. The former school building is now a municipal monument.
