Regarding Ten-K Building. From the City of Elk City:
Elk City's recognizable and historic Ten-K Building has hosted financial, business and government enterprises since just after statehood 115 years ago.>
The Elk City Chamber of Commerce was originally known as the Elk City Commercial Club. In 1907, the Commercial Club built a 2-story building at 201 W. Broadway, on the northwest corner of Broadway and Jefferson.
The upstairs floor was intended to be the Commercial Club's headquarters, and the ground floor would be used for business space.
Soon after its completion, the Commercial Club sold the building in January 1908 to the newly-chartered German State Bank, which opened inside the Broadway location the following month. Because the U.S. went to war with Germany in 1917, the bank changed its name to Farmers State Bank. Two years later, the bank relocated to 101 N. Main.
The Mayer Building, which sat on the south side of Broadway opposite the bank building, housed Elk City's post office until it burned in 1917. Soon after, the post office moved across the street to 203 W. Broadway, then next door into 201 when Farmers State Bank left that location 2 years later.
Elk City's post office eventually moved as did the Chamber of Commerce's headquarters. In the years since, several businesses have called 201 W. Broadway home. Federal law enforcement also had a 21st century presence there. The Elk City FBI office was upstairs between 2003 and 2018.
