Inscription. Plans to expand Vine Street threatened the survival of Chinatown. Bulldozers demolished a number of homes, displacing residents during this process. In several instances, schoolchildren, youth, and demonstrators climbed on top of mountains of rubble to prevent further destruction of their community.
