The M4 Sherman saw extensive service in both theaters of World War II and in Korea. A number of variations and modifications of engines, guns and the hull, resulted in designations M4, M4A1, M4A2, M4A3 and M4A4. This specimen of the Sherman exhibits the cast front hull section of the M4A1 and the "welded" rear hull section of the M4. It retains the M4 designation and is commonly referred to as the "composite hull."
