This plaque commemorates the 25 anniversary
of the crash of Boxtop 22

Boxtop 22, the CC130322 Hercules aircraft on a re-supply mission to Canadian Forces Station Alert crashed on October 30th, 1991.

A massive search and rescue effort was launched. In blizzard conditions, continual darkness, and through multiple attempts, rescuers arrived after more than 30 hours. Of the 18 personnel on board, four had died in the crash Itself, and one more died before help could arrive.

We remember those we lost, those who survived, and their rescuers.

Boxtop 22, un avion CC130322 Hercules en mission de ravitaillement de la Station des Forces canadiennes Alert, s'est écrasé le 30 octobre 1991.

De grands efforts de recherche et sauvetage ont été déployés, il a fallu aux secouristes plus de 30 heures et de nombreuses tentatives pour se rendre sur place dans des conditions de blizzard et d'obscurité continue. Des 18 membres d'équipage à bord de l'avion, quatre sont morts pendant récrasement et un autre avant l'arrivée des secouristes.

Nous nous souvenons de ceux qui ont perdu la vie Ainsi que des survivants et de leurs secouristes.
