Once finalized, the granite statue was meticulously hand carved over 45 days, before being place on a barge and embarking on a 5-week voyage at sea. In May of 2020, the statue made landfall at Port Elizabeth in Newark, New Jersey. It was then shipped to Barre, Vermont for inspection, where it remained until the bases that it now rests upon were completed. It was delivered to campus on September 14, 2020. A large crane was used to place the statue atop its current perch.
