1. The Parsonage 1875 Marker

Inscription. This two storey Italianate style house was constructed by noted Thorold builder Isaac Usher in 1875, for St John's Anglican Church, on lots purchased from Dr. Henry Rolls. Known as "the Parsonage", it was in use as the rectory for the church until 1919 when it was sold to the Ontario Paper Company as a residence for its senior managers. In 1938 the building was purchased by Dr. Alliston Anderson. Dr. Anderson and his family shared the home with his medical practice until 1969. Several additions to the building were made over the years to accommodate families and Dr. Anderson's practice but the building maintains its stately Italianate profile, hipped roof, round-headed windows, and pronounced eaves.
