1. Dr. Frank Skinner's Lilacs Marker
Inscription. Dr. Frank Skinner (1882-1967), a rancher and self-taught horticulturist in Manitoba, Canada, developed some of the most versatile lilacs available to gardeners today. He utilized the low- and full-growing Syringa oblata ssp. diversifolia to breed disease-tolerant, strong growing lilacs that can withstand frigid winter temperatures of -40°F. Many of Skinner's incredibly adaptable lilacs perform well in both extremely cold and warm winter climates.
