1. Section Car Marker

Inscription.
The section car transported workmen by rail when tracks needed repair. A hand crank was used to propel the early models. Section gangs of six to eight men worked on an assigned track section of 4-5 miles, and they used these cars to get tools and equipment to the location that needed attention. Later, section cars were motorized, but even today they are still known as section or hand cars.

This section car was in pieces when donated to the Moravia Historical Society by the late Jay Wilson, but it was carefully restored to its original condition.
