1. All Saint's Church, Pontefract Marker
Inscription. Founded in 1080 this church was under the authority of the monks of St. John's Cluniac Priory.

• If you walk round this memorial cross, you will read the names of two Barnbow lasses who died in an explosion at the munitions factory.

• Above: A civil war cannon ball fell from the tower during conservation work in 2000 AD, whether it was a royalist or Cromwellian missile we will never know for sure.

• Above: All Saints was the Parish Church of Pontefract until it was reduced to 3 ruinous state during the three sieges of Pontefract castle during the English Civil War. Its cruciform shape with central tower and six-bay aisled nave is a rarity in West Yorkshire.

• Right booking through the low wooden door of the tower's southwest corner, you catch a glimpse of a rare stone double helix staircase built around a single newel. This architecture wonder has survived through the Wars of the Roses and the English civil war and is still in use today.

• Two Medieval Heads which were reused during the reconstruction of the central area the church.
