Professor Elkouri graduated from the OU College of Law in 1947 and earned LL.M. and S.J.D. degrees from the University of Michigan. He joined the OU law faculty in 1952. Though he retired from full-time teaching in 1985, Professor Elkouri continued his leadership at the law school as a professor, an inspiring mentor, and accomplished scholar through 2010. Frank's wife, Edna Asper Elkouri, graduated with honors from George Washington University Law School. They collaborated on numerous works including How Arbitration Works, which for decades has been the authoritative treatise on the law and practice of labor arbitration.

Their love of OU Law manifested itself in many ways including a historic gift to the College to fund student scholarships. This gift was inspired by those who had given scholarships to them, and thus made their careers possible. The Elkouris also endowed the Frank Elkouri and Edna Asper Elkourf Professorship of Law.

Frank Elkouri passed away on January 20, 2013, and Edna passed away on February 17, 2014. The Elkouris have touched generations of students and faculty. Their many contributions to OU

In 1944 when the young man from Byron, Oklahoma, first climbed the steps of Monnet Hall to begin his studies as a law student, no one could have imagined the impact he would have on generations of students who would follow in his footsteps. After 58 years of service at the University of Oklahoma College of Law, Professor Emeritus Frank Elkouri’s impact was more fully understood with the January 2011 announcement of a historic gift of $6 million given by Frank and his wife, Edna Asper Elkouri.
