Le rempart sur la ville et la tour Puchot
Au 11e siècle, l'enceinte est constituée d'un talus de terre, extraite lors du creusement des fossés, complété de murailles de pierre. Des tours carrées sont ajoutées dans la seconde moitié du 12e siècle, puis une tour ronde au début du 13e siècle. On lui donnera plus tard le nom de Tour Puchot.

Le château de Caen compte plus de 800 mètres de remparts, délimitant ainsi un très vaste terrain de presque 5 hectares. Il offre des vues sur la ville en grand paysage et la tour Puchot commande le point d'accroche de la muraille urbaine sur le rempart du château, au-dessus du faubourg Saint-Julien.

Square towers were added from the middle of the 12th century onwards, followed by a round tower, the nearby Puchot Tower, at the beginning of the 13th century. Caen Castle has more than 800 metres of ramparts, enclosing a vast area of almost 5 hectares. It offers great views over the city, and the Puchot Tower is the point where the city wall used to join the castle ramparts above the Faubourg Saint-Julien.

Festungswall zur Stadt und Turm Puchot
Der erste Schutzwall des Schlosses von Caen im 11. Jahrhundert war möglicherweise ein einfacher versehener Erdwall. Dank der aus dem Aushub des Grabens im Norden der Anlage gewonnenen großen Menge Gestein konnte er sehr schnell durch eine solidere Konstruktion ersetzt werden. Ab Mitte des 12. Jahrhunderts wurden quadratische Türme, später dann ein Rundtürm hinzugefügt, der in direkter Nähe gelegene Puchot-Turm von Anfang des 13. Jahrhunderts. Die Festungsmauern des Château de Caen sind über 800 Meter lang und umfassen eine sehr weitläufige Fläche von fast fünf Hektar. Von der Mauer aus geht der Blick weit über die Stadtlandschaft.
