L'église Saint-Georges
La paroisse Saint-Georges du château est mentionnée par un texte de 1082. Dans l'église, des éléments datés de cette période ancienne sont conservés dans la nef. On trouve les traces de fenêtres d'époque romane et l'arc triomphal a été reconstruit dans les années 1100. Les fenêtres gothiques datent des 14e et 15e siècles, le chœur et la porte sont remaniés au début du 16e siècle. À l'intérieur, la nef est couverte d'une charpente en bois construite pendant la guerre de Cent Ans. Elle a été datée par l'archéologie des années de l'occupation anglaise, vers 1435. Le clocher de bois disparait au 19e siècle quand on transforme l'église en bâtiment de service pour l'armée. Gravement touchée par les bombardements, l'église est restaurée à partir de 1948. Les nouvelles verrières sont posées après 1970. Entre 1964 et 1980, l'église a été le mémorial de la victime civile anonyme de la bataille de Caen.

Saint George's Church
The first written record of Saint-George's church is a charter from 1082, which refers to the parish whose boundaries were defined by the castle. The remaining elements of the Romanesque church are the nave (c. 1060) and the chancel arch (c. 1100). The windows are Gothic (14th century), and the choir and doorway were altered in the early 16th century. Inside, the nave is covered by a timber frame built by the time of the English garrison during the Hundred Years' War. The wooden bell tower was removed when the church was converted into a service building for the army (19th century). Each century in the castle's history is thus represented in the church, which was adorned with new stained glass windows post-1970. As a memorial, exhibition space, and visitor and interpretation centre, it is still the castle's beating heart.
