La barbacane Saint-Pierre
Entre 1417 et 1450, pendant la guerre de Cent Ans, les Anglais renforcent le château pour se défendre contre les menaces qui pourraient venir de la ville. La barbacane est composée de trois tours et trois murs de courtine. Les positions de tir couvrent l'accès à la porte ou au pied des remparts. À l'attaque, il faut gravir une pente raide et entrer dans le bastion en exposant le flanc droit. Mais si la barbacane est prise, les assaillants restent sous la menace des tirs du château.

Saint-Pierre Barbican
The English, who occupied the castle between 1417 and 1450 (Hundred Years' War), defended it against an external assailant as well as against the town. Made of three towers and three walls, the barbican kept the attackers away from the bridges and gates and jutted out firing positions to the front of the castle.

Während die Engländer von 1417 bis 1450 (Hundertjähriger Krieg) das Château besetzten, nutzten sie es zur Verteidigung gegen die Stadt. Die Barbakane hält Angreifer von Brücken und Toren fern und macht eine Schussposition weiter vorn vor dem Château möglich.
