Inscription. The marker, erected here February 22, 1949, marks this tree which was grown from a slip of the black walnut tree at Mt. Vernon, home of George Washington. The tree was planted February 22, 1932 by the Ralph Humphreys Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Boy Scouts of Jackson, Mississippi.
