Inscription.
Buck T. King Homestead. . This chimney stands sentinel over the Buck King homestead and the intersection of Aspen Lane and Pearson Road, formerly known as Buck King Road. Buck King was born in Texas in 1882. While his mother was also born in Texas, Mr. King's father was born in Tennessee and traveled to Texas where he met and married his mother Francis. Buck King purchased this 40 acre homestead and an adjacent 36 acres for $300 in January 1924. Soon thereafter, he constructed a wood framed home where the chimney now stands. Mr. King began farming the combined acreage with crops of cotton, corn and peanuts. He also raised farm animals and fowl. The homestead land formed a divide with run-offs to the north feeding into Denton Creek and to the south, feeding into Bear Creek. Buck King never married. He and his mother lived in the home located on this site until it was destroyed by fire. Mr. King then sold the property in March 1942.
