Ce mémorial est dédié aux hommes de l'opération "Coup de Main" arrivés par planeurs la nuit qui a précédé le débarquement du Jour-J. L'audace de leur raid a permis la prise des ponts "Pegasus" et "Horsa" au cours des premières heures du 6 juin 1944.

Ces monuments ont été érigés par l'association "The Veterans Charity", organisatrice d'une course à pied en 2009 dans le cadre du 65ème anniversaire du Jour-J afin de lever les fonds nécessaires. Ils constituent un hommage perpétuel aux hommes qui ont rendu ces ponts célèbres. Fondée en 2008, l'association vient en aide aux anciens combattants britanniques de tous les conflits, en difficulté ou dans la détresse.

This memorial is dedicated to the men of the 'Coup de Main' glider operation who spearheaded the entire D-Day invasion force with the daring raid to capture Pegasus and Horsa Bridges in the opening minutes of 6th June 1944. The memorial was created by The Veterans Charity which hosted a special run on the 65th anniversary of D-Day in 2009 to raise the funds needed
